Q & Ages 25 & Up #20: August 2010

Previous Q&ANext Q&A

Here's what Monkeywrench, Q&A Organizer Extraordinaire, had to say concerning this month's Q&A:

It's time for the August Q & A. It's the 20th edition. The readers must still be feeling the effects of #100's awesomeness. So for the first time in a long time this Q & A is just me and Numbers. It's sort of... nostalgic.

It's hard to believe it's been 20 Q&As already! Thanks to all who have participated, and of course to Monkeywrench for orchestrating them all! We'll try to do something special next time. Now it's time for me to answer some questions:

Question #1 - Monkeywrench asks:
#100 was awesome! How many hours did it take to complete?

1337W422102 answers:
I'm not sure, I wasn't counting. I basically worked on it for a few days more than 2 weeks. It took a lot of time, but I wanted to surprise you guys with fun way to celebrate the triple digits.

Question #2 - Monkeywrench asks:
I was expecting another yearbook file for #100. Then I thought we would see one for file #103. What’s the chances that we will see another yearbook comic?

1337W422102 answers:
Ah geez, you guys would've settled for a Yearbook? If I'd known that, I wouldn't have worked so hard on that there animation.

I specifically didn't want to make a Yearbook for #100 because that's what I did last time and I wanted to do something different and special. I don't have any plans for another Yearbook at the moment, though it could be handy to recap what's happened... Hrm. Maybe I should do one, but it'd be kinda out of place to have a Yearbook issue out of the blue.

Question #3 - Monkeywrench asks:
The epic battle between Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes in #100 was amazing. Can we expect more battles in the future? Perhaps a full story arc involving the two?

1337W422102 answers:
No luck about the full arc. I don't have anything specifically planned for them, but I've been toying (pun not intended) with this idea about them and certain shirtless dentist for a while. I'll try to fit it in sometime, if it works out.

Question #4 - Monkeywrench asks:
In file #102, I, like many of the readers, was somewhat lost in this one. Can you explain in detail some of the references and jokes?

1337W422102 answers:
Absolutely. I know this one was real obscure and intentionally so, but I figured that it's probably more enjoyable if you DON'T get the references. That way, it's just a rather serious underwater issue. And how many serious underwater issues do I have?

The dialogue and situation was lifted/adapted from the introductory cinematic to MechWarrior 2, one of my favourite computer games of all time. (Shout-out to rinko vinsheen who left a comment in the Comments area under the comic and made my day!) The title of the strip, Creeping In My Soul, is lifted from one of the Lego Bionicle songs used during that series' underwater era. This year marks the final year of the Lego Bionicle line, a series which was really important to me growing up. Next year would have marked its 10th anniversary, so I'm featuring a few Bionicle figures and characters as a farewell to the line.

Question #5 - Monkeywrench asks:
In file #103, there is someone joining Cobra Commander in the jail cell. Who is that?

1337W422102 answers:
It was Nero, the Romulan villain from Star Trek 11. We haven't seen the last of him!

Question #6 - Monkeywrench asks:

These last few issues appear to be a set up for Cobra Commander’s escape. Does this story arc have a name?

1337W422102 answers:

The current story arc is called "Find The Power," a Bionicle reference. Fear not, it's still about the Commander's escape!

Question #7 - Monkeywrench asks:
Can you share some Intel about a possible story that might happen before the end of 2010?

1337W422102 answers:
Anything's possible! Thanks for reading.

Just pullin' your leg. Man, how Hasbro of an answer would that be? Here are some of the ideas I'm tossing around. Not sure which I'll use first, but here they are: Stalker reuniting with an old comrade of his from their Argentina mission, Hawk trying to boost morale by implementing a "Casual Friday" dress code, and Dr. Mindbender's evil pseudo-super-science and its bizarre effects.

That's it for another Q&A! Keep the questions coming, and next month we'll try something a little unusual. See you next time!

68 Years since Dieppe

Today marks the 68th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid. The newspaper has a tiny little blurb about it on the bottom of the front page, while the top of the front page has a large, full-colour multi-photo banner about how some 40-something movie star women are on the cover of fashion magazines. Something is seriously wrong, people.

COMIC - File #103: "Two Shall Stand, Two Shall Fall"

The Cobra Commander's underwater plan worked out. The Joes aren't going to stand for this. At least they have friends who can help.

I also thought this is worth mentioning that this week marks Ages 25 & Up's second anniversary. 104 weeks ago, I posted the very first issue, and it's been a great ride ever since. Thanks to everyone for reading and your continued support.
