Reminder: No New Comic this week

I just wanted to remind you that due to my awful week of infection and illness, there won't be a new Ages 25 & Up comic this week. There is, however, a new Batteries Not Included, if you're interested.

I'm sorry for having to miss a week, but unfortunately, real life comes first. Check back next week for some new content or the previous post for the answers to the latest Q&A.

Have a great weekend,

Q&Ages 25 & Up #24: March 2011

Previous Q&ANext Q&A

It's time for Q & A #24! Monkeywrench and the Quizmasters are back again to catch me off-guard. Let's see how I do.

Question #1 - G.I.Eddie asks:
"The Final Letter" was one of my favorite stories... I just liked the look of it... and the voiceover... and the blood... some O13 was nice too... any more plans to do similar more serious comics? ...maybe with the O13 in its entirety... maybe like an old Marvel comic

1337W422102 answers:
Thanks! I try to avoid serious comics when I can because I find they're harder to pull off properly. I do like making them from time to time, though, so expect some more... eventually!

A comic with all of the Original 13 is overdue, for sure. I don't plan on making a story with just them, though I probably should.

Question #2 - G.I.Eddie asks:
Loved the BTTF references in #128... any chance you might use a 1:18th or even the 1:15th DeLorean in a comic? ...some time travel comics could be REALLY fun...

1337W422102 answers:
Hmm... My brother has a 1:18th DeLorean from Back To The Future Part II, now that you mention it. I find time travel stories to be too clichéd, so I probably won't make one. But if I did, I'd have to carefully plan out a time travel story before making it, though, or I'd risk making some large plot holes and/or screw up the present completely. You know, like Steeler goes back in time and prevents the MOBAT from being created, effectively screwing himself out of a job in the future.

Question #3 - G.I.Eddie asks:
I get a very Muppet Babies vibe from this shrinking thing you got going on... have they just been shrunken, or have they also de-aged?

1337W422102 answers:
The shrunken Joes and Cobras might not make their dreams come true, and they probably won't do the same for you, either. They've only been shrunk and not de-aged. Gung-Ho and Shipwreck still have their facial hair, and the female characters still have their assets, after all!

Question #4 - G.I.Eddie asks:
The Joes can't handle a device of that magnitude! ...lol... maybe the Ewoks can help them being they are now the same size?

1337W422102 answers:
I don't have any Ewok figures, so there's no chance of those fuzzy bastards from showing up in the comic. And no Gungans, either!

Question #5 - Flint-wo2 asks:
What will happen with the Valentine's Day comic, will it be a story or just a time filler?

1337W422102 answers:
It's part of the current story about Cobra's Size Adjustment Ray System (aka the S.A.R.S.), a shrinking-expansion ray developed by Dr. Mindbender from technology he got from Duke Nukem. The Valentine's Day comic took place in one of the warehouses that Cobra uses to store the power source needed to fuel the shrink ray.

Question #6 - T J Bang asks:
Hey, have you ever considered (or have done in the past) a yearbook like class photo of all your Joes and all your Cobra in a group shot? And why not do a Glee like comic to go with it hahaha

Also, Where is the Sarge!

1337W422102 answers:
Yep! I made a Yearbook-style issue for the 50th comic and there was a group shot which Clutch, er, annotated. Click on it to see the full-sized picture.

The Sarge? Maybe later, when he's needed. I don't want to put him in for no reason, you know?

Question #7 - Ctrl Z ask:
Just how many different toy properties do you have?

1337W422102 answers:
To be honest, I don't know... but a lot of them! So far, the ones I remember using in the comic are Joes (obviously), Micromen, Transformers, Star Wars, Ninja Turtles, Marvel and DC Comics, Street Fighter, some animé figures, LEGO, a bit of Halo, Speed Racer, generic stuff like Green Army Men and Fisher-Price figures... There's probably more that I'm forgetting, too.

Question #8 - Ctrl Z asks:
Who is your favorite Joe and your favorite Cobra?

1337W422102 answers:
Favourite Joe is Clutch (big surprise, eh?). Not sure who my favourite Cobra is.

Question #9 - Ctrl Z asks:
What (if any) other online comics do you read?

1337W422102 answers:
I check out VGcats, Penny Arcade, and That's So Kraven! from time to time.

Question #10 - Ctrl Z asks:
Ever dance with the devil in the pale moon light?

1337W422102 answers:
Oh, crap. Hang on, let me stuff a metal tray under my shirt before you shoot me, okay?

Question #11 - Monkeywrench asks:
You have made over 130 comics, what is your biggest regret?

1337W422102 answers:
While I'd like to be all badass and proudly proclaim "I REGRET NOTHING," looking back, there's a lot I'm not really happy about, in particular the layout of many of the comics (too much wasted space, etc.) and the brightening I did to the earlier issues, which I made on a CRT monitor and didn't realize how awful they'd look on an LCD display.

Question #12 - Monkeywrench asks:
What is your take on the Club’s Dial Tone that will be shipping soon? Will you be getting one? Will he be used in the comic?

1337W422102 answers:
Breaker was here. Dial-Tone is small time.
I'm glad they're making him so that maybe some butthurt neckbeards can finally shut up. I'm not interested in the figure or character.

Thanks to everyone for the questions! Got more questions you want answered? You can post them in the A25U HissTank thread, send me an email, put 'em in the chatbox on the left-hand side of the A25U blog, ask Helix, or drop them in the askbox of the Crunching Numbers page.

New comic on Sunday

I hate to have to do this, but it's already 1 in the morning, I'm not done the editing, and I'm spending the day tomorrow with ol' chums since my best friend is in town for the day.

I'm sorry, but I'll have to put up the new comic on Sunday instead of tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, guys.
